Lymphoepithelial interactions in the mucosal immune system.

چکیده
The efferent limb of secretory immunity depends on local production and selective epithelial transport of polymeric immunoglobulins (pIg). To this end there is a fascinating cooperation of the B-cell system and the epithelium with their production of two key factors, the J chain and the secretory component (SC), respectively. Interactions between activated leucocytes for example, T cells and macrophages, and the secretory epithelium may contribute to modulation of the SC-dependent plg transport. Indirect evidence is accumulating, moreover, that lymphoepithelial interactions may also be involved in regulation of the mucosal B-cell system and in T cellmediated mucosal induction of systemic tolerance to luminal antigens.

Chitosan-based Nanoparticles in Mucosal Vaccine Delivery
Most infectious diseases are caused by pathogenic infiltrations from the mucosal tract. Nowadays, the use of vaccines has been widely investigated for the prevention of different infectious diseases, infertility, immune disorders, malignancies, and allergies. Broad-spectrum adjuvant substances have been studied for immune system stimulation with a greater efficiency against specific antigens. V...
متن کاملThe Roles of Invariant NKT Cells in Bowel Immunity — Suppression of Tumor Progression and Rejection of Intestinal Transplants
The roles of natural killer (NK)T cells in intestinal immunity have not been sufficiently investigated. The bowel possesses its own unique mucosal immune system, the gut-associated lymphoepithelial tract (GALT). In this review, we focused on CD1d-independent invariant type NKT (iNKT) cells as modulators of GALT. iNKT cells have a restricted invariant T-cell receptor (TCR) Vα24 chain paired with...
متن کاملMicrobiota-immune system interaction: an uneasy alliance.
An estimated 100 trillion microbes colonize human beings, with the majority of organisms residing in the intestines. This microbiota impacts host nutrition, protection, and gut development. Alterations in microbiota composition are associated with susceptibility to various infectious and inflammatory gut diseases. The mucosal surface is not a static barrier that simply prevents microbial invasi...
متن کاملThe role of microRNAs and phytohormones in plant immune system
The plant-pathogen interaction is a multifactor process that may lead to resistance or susceptible responses of plant to pathogens. During the arms race between plant and pathogens, various biochemical, molecular and physiological events are triggered in plant cells such as ROS signaling, hormone activation and gene expression reprogramming. In plants, microRNAs (miRNAs) are key post-transcript...

BACKGROUND: It is important to understand the efficacy of immunoregulatory materials, herbal remedies or probiotics, in different parts of immune system following vaccination with different tropism. OBJECTIVES: Aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of Echinacea purpurea and a probiotic (protexin) on systemic and mucosal immune response in turkey. METHODS: A total of 288 1-day-old male tu...
